A Priest To God Above Within The Spirit Of Elijah!

                                                                    Parashas Pinchas
                                                        Finding The Ger Above Nature
                                                                    Rabbi David Katz

Parashas Pinchas in many respects is the conclusion of the story that began at Sinai, enclothed within the enigma known as Jethro [the Ger]. Although the connection may seem a bit opaque at first glance and seemingly devoid of mutual content, the Jethro - Pinchas pipeline contains a subtle quality of firepower that without annual close investigation, the consequences are to endure yet another year of exile.

On one hand is Parashas Jethro, obviously well-known as the miraculous giving of the Torah, through a lesser known agency, this being the consummate Ger in Jethro. On the other hand is Parashas Pinchas within the summer months, of which we say that it is precisely under these times, that the Messiah is born, and delivered to the World. One could easily generalize the essential qualities of the Parshiot as the beginning of the Jewish mission through bestowing the Torah upon the World, and the fulfillment of God’s Divine Word.  What people are often not aware of is that one leads to another, as Jethro was the catalyst for Pinchas’ zealous behavior, in the culmination of a unique family conquest! Jethro is Pinchas’ grandfather, and their saga is the ultimate expression of divinity coming into this World from a Place that only God could know. For all intents and purposes, we call this climax the moment that Pinchas speared two sinners to death; God would call it the moment that Torah won on Earth through the Love of the Ger.

Pinchas is the son of Aaron son of Elazar, who married of the daughters of Putiel; Putiel being a Torah hint [in language, even on the Simple Meaning level] that points to Jethro. The Midrash explains that the Putiel reference to Jethro is a metaphor to his days of repentance and salvation from idolatry and coming to the ways of Hashem.  In this light, we see that Pinchas [on his mother’s side] is a descendant of Jethro, and even in words of kabbalah, it is said that Pinchas contains an incarnation of Jethro, making him truly one with Jethro.

The irony would begin under these circumstances of close proximity, and all the while surrounding the fact that Jethro was a Ger, a repentant from idolatry, to the point that if Torah were to be seen from a dramatic perspective, Jethro would be a lead role! Yet here was Pinchas as a son of Aaron, a budding young star with a lot to prove to himself, to the Jewish People, to the Gerim, and ultimately to God Himself – being asked to move mountains while immersed in Ger lore through his odd family dynamic. All together one couldn’t paint a more taxing scenario in Torah, especially since these episodes took place at the ever crucial formation of the newly found Torah Universe. From a researcher’s conclusion, one can testify that Pinchas’ miracles emerged from his association with Jethro the Ger, yet the pedestrian model would blindly see only images of doom destined to erupt from the family contained in Pinchas’ proverbial spear.  Ultimately God would orchestrate from the utmost chaos, a monumental suicide mission of which its seeds were sown from before Sinai, in the greatest display of Torah unfolding that the Creation would ever know in Pinchas’ vengeance and loyalty to God through his Love of Jethro and his deeper Love for the Ger – all in the eyes of the scoffers amongst Israel.

To arrive at a clear understanding of Pinchas’ heroism, one must first understand the Torah that was not spoken at the time of the Pinchas narrative, using the Torah itself to pose as its own exclusive commentary, as the key that opens God’s most sacred door: Pinchas’ Covenant of Peace. This simple passage in the Parsha is perplexing by nature, and we are told year after year the magnitude of Pinchas’ bravery, how it is Messianic in that it led to Pinchas finding his own internal Elijah, yet in only a few short weeks we will be sitting amidst the ashes of yet another 9th of Av wondering where we went wrong in our plight to find Moshiach! So let the story be told of Pinchas, the one who restored the Torah, the whole Torah, as it will be in the End of Days; making the logical place to begin with perhaps the most simple and logical application [even if it is a direct response to God Himself] in the performance of, “that which is hateful to you, to others to not do.” Simply put, God hated what was going on in Israel, and Pinchas brought Peace the only way possible – through Love.

Love your neighbor as yourself the Torah commands us, yet with even one moment of contemplation and honesty in this matter, it is quickly seen as an impossible request, for it defies the laws of nature, no matter how sincere the servant of God. The commentators explain that to effectively not hate in your heart is sufficient in the performance of this mitzvah, one that is said to comprise the entire Torah. Pinchas however stood on a different ground, as he restored [the entire] Torah in the desert [as he speared Zimri and Cozbi through Torah law, as they were engaged in severe immorality, coupled with Moses’ moment of duress] by not keeping status quo; Pinchas Loved his neighbor as himself, or more explicitly, he Loved the Ger as himself.

The commandment to love thy neighbor [let’s call it Hillel’s law, as it was said over numerous times in his name, in his counsel with the Ger] is auspiciously juxtaposed within abstract Ger Torah [a Ger is forbidden to combine mixtures; kilayim] that is seemingly begging for attention to be associated with Hillel’s law. The commentators even elaborate on this point, by stating that there is indeed a mitzvah to Love the Ger, as one’s self – yet without the allowance of a lesser degree of simply “don’t hate him” – for the grammar is oddly such that it yields no lending hand with the Ger. With a little bit of thought into matters and promptly superimposed upon the Pinchas – Jethro family tree, we may bear testimony to the ultimate expression of Moshiach in the times of the year of Moshiach, in finally understanding Pinchas and his covenant of Peace.

The Ger is not Jewish, and thus has no command of Loving the neighbor, no matter how noble this may seem. Couple that, with not only today, but in all of history, the most neglected mitzvah, which happens to be God’s favorite [as we are told 46 times along with numerous hints] in” Love the Ger”, and you have the golden recipe to harbor unprecedented hatred in the World, while the Torah hasn’t changed its stance on how it feels toward hate. The entire Torah is bound up on this point, and the only salvation at hand, is that we are told not to worry, as it is against nature to change it.

Although this is true, it is only half true, for this equation and its solution often does not take counsel with the Ger variable, as he is simply seen as dwelling on the outside of matters due to his lack of explicit command on scene. The irony is, that to calculate this into a formidable outcome, would be an astronomical theory, one that we are supposed to be believe that one day man will magically arrive at such an accounting, that man is the Messiah, and the generation that brings him. However Torah teaches a different lesson on these matters, one that goes against the limited hearts  of man; the man came already, his name is Pinchas, he is promised to return in the guise as Elijah, he will announce redemption, and his secret [in merit] was in his power of belief in Torah.

Pinchas followed the instruction manual to open one’s heart with ability to love; he saw to first Love the Ger. Newton’s Law in these spiritual matters, is that perhaps the Ger would take it upon himself to Love you back, showing the two-way street of love in the flavor of Hillel’s law. All of a sudden, nature is transcended, Love is found, it is to the letter of the one who said it, and only then can one truly sanctify on the highest level – to Love God Himself.

It would be great to say that Pinchas was simply a greater prophet than even Moses, and prophetically he achieved such an exalted status with God.  But the answer is far simpler – for Pinchas loved his grandfather Jethro. To make matters even more ironically simple, he didn’t love him simply as a family affair; he loved him for he was one with him, he found it within himself to Love the Ger. Once Pinchas was in Love, the Torah was in his hands, and he could arouse even the Love of the People with their Maker – Jew and Ger, in what was miraculously achieved under the pretext of the covenant of Peace. The Torah itself says to Love is to not be jealous of another, and Pinchas knew not of jealousy, for he was its antithesis in divine zealotry.  This was clearly a love affair, born of Peace, and conceived in the Awe that he found by adhering to God’s Torah, enveloped in a false foe of Jethro.

Jethro in the true Light of Pinchas’ Glorification of God, shall forever be known as Reuel – the [true] friend of God, a true friend to all, the ultimate personification of the Brotherhood of Jew-Ger, even beyond what Moses and Jethro enveloped amongst themselves [as reincarnations of Kain and Able]. Such exaltation will forever stand as the Covenant of Peace, and its symbol is eternally embedded within the additional letter yud added to Pinchas’ name, as testimony that Pinchas’ deed was God’s will, such that it is the prophecy of his name [this aspect of prophecy, within the name is thus seen to be even more explicit than all other prophecy until this time, for it derived from Wisdom, as opposed to a lower level – Netzach]. This however is not the end of the story, but rather a new beginning, for the letter vav contained within the word “Shalom” is prophetically commanded to remain in broken form – Pinchas’ Priesthood, symbolic of Peace, would be told in this unique Torah anomaly.

In Hebrew rules, a vav may express either the word “and” or “or”; add in the true methods of exegesis in Torah, double entendre etc., and then we can begin to understand the magnitude of how great Pinchas’ achievement really was and how is his Priesthood possible. His Peace contains more than a mouthful and reveals even the Messianic Kingdom that is appropriate with the Priesthood, in the repair of the Firstborn! [Jethro was an incarnation of Kain, and all World repair must be for the sake of Kain’s firstborn rights; Pinchas elicited this repair, even beyond the ability of Moses, for Pinchas Loved the Ger in an unprecedented display before God]

In Hebrew, double entendre is part of tradition, as it is a tool to contain massive amounts of information, making the Torah possible to be written; this gives way to kabbalah, and nobody ever taught kabbalah quite like Pinchas – Elijah. The word “Shalom” [from “my covenant of”] is lacking the necessary article "of”; yet if we look within the word Shalom itself, and employ the broken vav to simply mean “and” we can see that the word contains the full expression of peace in proper form. Yet on the other hand, if invoke the “or” mechanism, suddenly the double entendre appears, and “shalom” appears like this,ש''ל או ם – meaning, “we can say the word “of” is inside, making the word Shalom into a complex sort of equation that tells the entire story, or we can employ the “or” thus alluding to the “letter mem”, therefore illuminating itself as the other half of the double entendre, to the exclusion of the “lamed” and making the “mem’ the operative function in Torah – Grammar- Calculus, ultimately producing, “שם” – Shem! Effectively, it would read, “My covenant Shem.”

One must remember that it is Shem who was Malki Tzedek, and met with Abraham on the Temple Mount, in efforts to pass the Messianic torch to Abraham, along with Priestly rights, Kingdom rights, Torah rights, Firstborn rights, etc. In essence the Messianic Light was given to Abraham, and it finally materialized as Pinchas the son of Elazar son of Aaron through the daughters of Putiel, Daughters of Jethro.  Only on Sinai do we see that Aaron was given the seed of the Priest, even to the exclusion of Pinchas due to circumstance. Yet the Zohar explains Pinchas’ Priesthood was unique, as it comes from the Supernal Priesthood, and thus operates on a slightly different frequency, identical to that of Abraham before him. This is the Priesthood of Shem, the father of Gerim in Torah, he who functions perhaps the most intimately in Torah, even in a Messianic way [albeit from the Upper Worlds, where he serves in the heavenly Temple], for he is one of Four Redemption Craftsmen, in the Righteous Priest.

The Righteous Priest is an accolade that Shem shares with none other than Pinchas in Torah tradition, and is thus fitting that they are so bound up amongst each other. For Pinchas and Shem are the Priestly souls that usher in Messiah’s Kingdom, bringing the ultimate expression of repair back into Creation, utterly fixing the blemish that would originate in Adam and his sons. It was Shem who perfected the Primordial Torah, and initiated the Abraham – Ger Toshav program from atop Zion; how appropriate that the final vision of Light should come from the same cloth, as Pinchas won the High Priesthood the day he connected with Shem who dwells in the Holy Temple above, expressing a truly redemptive spirit amidst the Congregation in the eyes of God.

The Torah for one moment, had its true Messianic moment, one inspired by Shem many moons before Pinchas roamed the sidelines, and that moment was just as Shem engineered through his Blessings and transfer to Abraham – a simple message, one that will rise to the ears of God’s mind – Love the Ger, for no other reason, than the eternal fact that God simply Love the Ger. Love is found within the heart of the Torah, verse Vayikra 19:19 to be exact, and we adjured to Love God, Love Creation,  to be Loving People and removing jealousy and hatred; the formula is simple and profound: to find love is to love the Ger, only then can you rise above the confines of one’s heart to Love your neighbor, which is to finally Love God.  Yet that may be a bit hard to recall in a  moment’s notice; in short, Love the Ger, as God says, “…for I Love the Ger” – and that should be enough, as it was indeed for Pinchas, and his covenant of Peace.

Golan Heights - Neo Bavel!

Tumah: Act 1 - build tower to wage war with God
Tumah: Act 2 - build tower to wage war with God, this time in the Golan

News Today: WWIII soon to erupt in the Golan; the node to all Avodah Zara;
God's antivirus? - Moshiach 101: True Theology to Replacement Theology.
That would be called Torah, the book we are told to not forsake.

Global Research:

Israel is concerned over the Syrian War’s reach into the Golan Heights which they have been occupying since Six-Day War of 1967. The Golan Heights is a strategic territory for Israel’s security and it is an important source of its water supplies. An attack on Syria could occur if they crossed into Israel’s occupied land.

It was reported in an NBC news report that correspondent John Ray interviewed top Israeli air force officials about Israel’s monitoring of the Golan Heights of the Syrian border:

The spillover of violence from the Syrian conflict into the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights is threatening to jeopardize the decades old cease-fire between the two countries and spark a regional conflict.

A series of mighty Israeli airstrikes, apparently on weapons convoys heading from Syria towards President Bashar Assad’s allies in the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon, has shattered the fragile truce that has existed along the border since 1973

The Golan Heights, rightfully known as the Syrian Golan is a center of dispute between Syria and Israel since the 1940’s. On June 19th, 1967 Israel offered to return the Golan Heights to Syria if the Arab world would recognize Israel as a state. The Arab world refused such agreements with the Khartoum Resolution that same year. The 1967 occupation of the Golan Heights and the Upper Mount Hermon allowed Israel to seize the entire Upper Jordan River giving Israel access to the Upper Jordanian waters.

Then another conflict developed in 1973 called the Yum Kipper War or the Arab-Israeli War between Egyptian and Syrian forces who invaded the Sinai Peninsula and the Golan Heights, both territories occupied by Israel since the Six-Day War. The United States supplied Israel and the former Soviet Union supplied Egypt and Syria with weapons during the conflict as both superpowers were fighting the cold war against each other during that time. After the Yum Kipper War, Israel returned 5% of the Golan Heights to Syrian control with a demilitarized zone along the area that is declared a ceasefire zone that extends east under the United Nations Peace Keeping forces.

When an Israeli Air Force official was asked about the situation in the Golan Heights, he said “It’s the kind of thing happening more and more,” one of the uniformed escorts explained.” As he continued “We have for 40 years been training for this exact moment. And we are ready for anything,” said a pilot that can be identified under Israeli military rules only as “Major L.”

The Israeli Air Force official had no comment on whether Israel has been flying missions over Syria, “We are searching for peace, but preparing for war,’’ is all Pilot L would say.

When asked if he had already flown missions across the border, he shook his head slowly: no comment.” If Israel decided to attack Syria based on the Golan Heights, then the US and NATO would support Israel’s incursion into Syria’s borders. It would be a perfect excuse to attack Syria. The Golan Heights is a strategic military location and one of the most important water resources for the state of Israel. Israel would protect its interests with the United States as its principal supporter. The United States Secretary of State John Kerry and the United Nations under Ban-Ki Moon want the remaining UN Peacekeepers who are from the Philippines to stay. According to an Associated Press report:

The United Nations and the U.S. have separately asked the Philippines not to withdraw its more than 300 peacekeepers from the Golan Heights, warning of “maximum volatility” in the region after several other countries decided to pull out their peacekeeping forces amid escalating violence, the Philippines’ top diplomat said Wednesday.

Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario said U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry appealed to him in recent talks. He said he told them security for the forces should be bolstered for the Philippines to consider keeping them in the volatile buffer zone between Syria and Israel.

If the UN Peacekeeping Forces pull out of the zone then Israel will send in their troops antagonizing the Syrian government.

Last month, del Rosario recommended to Philippine President Benigno Aquino III that the peacekeepers be withdrawn from the Golan Heights following two separate abductions of Filipino peacekeepers and the wounding of another in fighting between Syrian government and rebel forces.

The Philippines Foreign Secretary knows that an Israeli strike into Syria is near; therefore his recommendation to remove forces is being challenged by both the US and the UN. According to del Rosario:

“This, of course, will create a vacuum in the Golan, that separation stretch which keeps Israel away from Syria,” del Rosario said in a news conference in Manila. He said Kerry and Ban told him that if the Philippines also withdraws, that would “create maximum volatility for the area.” Albert del Rosario did stress that “Aquino said last week the changes he was looking for included additional equipment and enhanced security for the peacekeepers, and different rules of engagement. He continued “If there is no change in the conditions, it might be an undoable mission and our poor troops will be in the middle of two potentially clashing forces and they cannot defend themselves.”

Israel’s concern with the Golan Heights would allow it to launch a definitive strike that would try to cripple Syria’s military capabilities. With the Obama administration willing to supply the Anti-Assad rebels with weapons it would allow Israel to enter a full-fledged war into the Golan Heights. Any artillery shells that lands on the occupied territory would allow Israel to launch a full scale war into Syria with America’s blessing. The Obama administration would support Israel and the rebels with supplies and possibly even US troops already on Jordan’s northern border. The Golan Heights has been an area of tension that resulted in numerous conflicts between Israel and Syria for decades. The Golan Heights has numerous interests for the state of Israel that involves a military advantage over its enemies including Hezbollah and an important commodity for its citizens, water.

If Israel feels that its occupied territory is threatened, it will respond with its military power to remove the Assad government. But Syria will respond to any attack by Israel with full-force along with the Hezbollah forces based in southern Lebanon. The Golan Heights dispute can ignite World War III if the Obama administration aids the rebels on one-side allowing Israel to attack Syria on the other. It was also reported in The Jerusalem Post that the Israel Defense Forces just completed a drill combining the Air Force, Army and Naval forces against possible conflicts against Syria, Hezbollah and even Hamas in the Palestinian territory:

On Wednesday, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon addressed an end-of –training event for IDF officers at a base in Mitzpe Ramon, “At this time, the IDF is dealing both at home and abroad, near and far, with a considerable number of fronts of uncertainty,” he said.

Ya’alon cited the Lebanese front where Hezbollah continues to arm itself and plans on harming Israeli civilians in a future conflict, and the front with Syria, “where a civil war continues to exact a heavy price of human lives, and a (civil) war is nearing our borders, placing us before a complex test that is full of significance.”

He added that there was “a front of uncertainty with the Gaza Strip, where the Hamas terrorist group continues to rule, and which has placed as its goal the destruction of the state of Israel.”

Israel is preparing to launch a war starting with Syria, Palestine and Hezbollah which will last for a very long time. Israel is the occupying force that is waging war across the Middle East. It would result in mass civilian deaths on both sides of the conflict.

Happy Birthday Big Boy!

Shimon Peres. Just how deep does the Erev Rav Erev Katan definition bleed? I think we are watching our present incarnation of Bilaam and his curses that become Blessings - against his will.
The literal engineer to the State may become transformed into the ultimate setup man.
Shimon Peres - worth the admission  ticket to see what he does from here on out on his farewell tour.

We are finally starting to see the fruits of Novelty; it's called Shimon Peres. I understand Pollard now in a whole new light.

Al-Jazeerah:

When the gods Laugh

IF THE life of Shimon Peres was a play, it would be difficult to classify. A tragedy? A comedy? A tragicomedy?

For sixty years it looked as if he was under a curse of God, much like the curse of Sisyphus, who was condemned to roll an immense boulder up a hill, and every time he approached his goal the rock would roll down again to the bottom.

Disclosure: our lives have run somehow on parallel lines. He is one month older than I. We both came to Palestine as boys. We have both been in political life from our teens. But there the similarity ends.

We met for the first time 60 years ago, when we were 30 years old. He was the Director General of Israel’s most important ministry, I was the publisher and editor of Israel’s most aggressive news magazine. We disliked each other on sight.

He was David Ben-Gurion’s main assistant, I was Ben-Gurion’s main enemy (so defined by his security chief.) From there our paths crossed many times, but we did not become bosom friends.

ALREADY IN his early childhood in Poland, Peres (still Persky) complained that his mates in (Jewish) school beat him up for no reason. His younger brother had to defend him.

When he came to Palestine with his family, he was sent to the legendary children’s village Ben Shemen, and joined a kibbutz. But already as a teenager his political acumen was evident. He was an instructor in a socialist youth movement. It split and most of his comrades joined the left-wing faction, which looked more young and dynamic. Peres was one of the few who remained with the ruling party, Mapai, and thereby drew the attention of the senior leaders.

He had to make a much more momentous choice in the 1948 war, a war all of us considered a life-and-death struggle. It was the decisive event in the life of our generation. Almost all the young people hastened to join the fighting units. Not Peres. Ben-Gurion sent him abroad to buy arms – a very important task, but one that could have been carried out by an older person. Peres was considered a shirker at the supreme test and was never forgiven by the 1948ers. Their contempt plagued him for decades.

At the early age of 30 Ben-Gurion appointed him director of the Defense Ministry – a huge advancement, which assured him a rapid rise to the top. And indeed, he played a major role in pushing Ben-Gurion into the 1956 Suez war, in collusion with France and Britain.

The French were struggling with the Algerian war for independence and believed that their real enemy was the Egyptian leader, Gamal Abd-al-Nasser. They got Israel to spearhead an attack to topple him. It was a complete failure.

In my opinion, the war was a political disaster for Israel. It dug the abyss separating our new state from the Arab world. But the French showed their gratitude – they rewarded Peres with the atomic reactor in Dimona.

Throughout this period, Peres was the ultimate hawk, and a central member of a group which my magazine, Haolam Hazeh, branded as “Ben-Gurion’s youth gang” – a group we suspected of plotting to assume power by undemocratic means. But before this could happen, Ben-Gurion was kicked out by the old party veterans, and Peres had no choice but to join him in political exile. They formed a new party, Rafi, Peres worked like mad, but in the end they garnered only 10 Knesset seats. Peres and the boulder were back at the bottom.

Redemption came with the Six-day War. On its eve, Rafi was invited to join a National Unity government. But the big prize was snatched by Moshe Dayan, who became Minister of Defense and a world idol. Peres remained in the shadows.

The next opportunity arose after the 1973 Yom Kippur war. Golda Meir and Dayan were pushed out by an incensed public. Peres was the obvious candidate for Prime Minister. But lo and behold, at the last minute Yitzhak Rabin appeared from nowhere and snatched the crown. Peres was left with the Defense Ministry.

The next three years were a continuous story of subversion, with Peres trying by all available means to undermine Rabin. As a part of this effort, he allowed right-wing extremists to establish the first settlement in the heart of the West Bank – Kedumim. He has rightly been called the father of the settlement movement, as he was earlier called the father of the atom bomb.

Rabin coined a phrase that stuck to him: “Tireless Backstabber”.

This chapter ended with the “dollar account”. Upon leaving his former job as ambassador in Washington, Rabin had left an open account in an American bank. At the time, that was a criminal offense, generally settled with a fine, but Rabin resigned in order to protect his wife.

It was never proved that Peres had a hand in the disclosure, though many suspected it.

AT LONG last, the way was clear. Peres assumed the leadership of the party and ran for elections. The Labor Party was bound to win, as it always had before.

But God only laughed. After 44 years of continuous Labor Party dominance, in the Yishuv and the state, Peres managed to achieve the unthinkable: he lost.

Menachem Begin made peace with Egypt, with Moshe Dayan, Peres’ competitor, at his side. Soon afterwards, Begin invaded Lebanon. On the eve of that war, Peres and Rabin visited him and urged him to attack. After the war went wrong, Peres appeared at a huge peace rally and condemned the war.

In the election before that, Peres had a shattering experience. In the evening, after the ballots were closed, Peres was crowned on camera as the next Prime Minister. On the following morning, Israel woke up with Prime Minister Menachem Begin again.

The elections after that ended in a draw. For the first time Peres became Prime Minister, but only under a rotation agreement. When Shamir assumed power, Peres tried to unseat him in a dubious political plot. It failed. Rabin, caustic as ever, called it “the Dirty Exercise”.

Peres’ unpopularity reached new depths. At election rallies, people cursed him and threw tomatoes. When, at a party event, he posed the rhetorical question: “Am I a loser?” the audience shouted in unison: “Yes!”

To change his luck, he underwent a cosmetic operation to alter his hangdog look. But his lack of grace could not be remedied by a surgeon. Neither could his oratorical skills – this man, who has delivered many tens of thousands of speeches, has never expressed a truly original idea. His speeches consist entirely of political platitudes, helped along by a deep voice, the dream of every politician.

(This, by the way, disproves to me his pretense of having read thousands of books. You cannot really read so many books without a trace of it showing up in your writing and speeches. One of his assistants once confided to me that he prepared resumes of fashionable books for him, to save him the trouble of actually reading before quoting them.)

IN THE meantime, Peres the hawk turned into Peres the peacenik. He had a part to play in achieving the Oslo accord, but it was Rabin who garnered the glory. The same, by the way, had happened before with the daring Entebbe raid, when Peres was Minister of Defense and Rabin Prime Minister.

After Oslo, the Nobel committee was about to award the Peace Prize to Rabin and Arafat. However, immense world-wide pressure was exerted on the committee to include Peres. Since no more than three persons can share the prize, Mahmoud Abbas, who had signed the agreement with Peres, was left out.

The assassination of Rabin was a turning point for Peres. He had been standing near Rabin when the “peace song” was sung. He came down the stairs, when Yigal Amir was waiting below, the loaded pistol in his hand. The murderer let Peres pass and waited for Rabin – another crowning insult.

But, at long last, Peres had achieved his goal. He was Prime Minister. The obvious thing to do was to call immediate elections, posing as the heir of the martyred leader. He would have won by a landslide. But Peres wanted to be elected on his own merit. He postponed the elections.

The results were disastrous. Peres gave the order to assassinate Yahya Ayyash, the “engineer” who had prepared the Hamas bombs. In retaliation, the entire country blew up in a tsunami of suicide bombings. Then Peres invaded South Lebanon, a sure means to gain popularity. But something went wrong, artillery fire caused a massacre of civilians in a UN (Qana) camp, and the operation came to an inglorious end. Peres lost the elections, Netanyahu came to power. (See more information below)*

Later, when the feared Ariel Sharon was elected, Peres offered him his services. He successfully whitewashed Sharon’s bloody image in the world.

IN ALL his long political life, Peres never won an election. So he decided to give up party politics and run for president. His victory was assured, certainly against a nondescript Likud functionary like Moshe Katzav. The outcome was again a crowning insult: little Katzav won against the great Peres. (Causing some people to say: “If an election cannot be lost, Peres will lose it anyway!”)

But this time God seems to have decided that enough was enough. Katzav was accused of raping his secretaries, the way was clear for Peres. He was elected.

Since then he has been celebrating. God showered him with favors. The public, which detested him for decades, enveloped him with their love. International celebrities anointed him as one of the world’s great.

He could not get enough of it. Hungry for love all his life, he swallowed flattery like a barrel without a bottom. He talked endlessly about “Peace” and the “New Middle East” while doing absolutely nothing to further it. Even TV announcers smiled when they repeated his edifying phrases. In reality he served as a fig leaf for Netanyahu’s endless exercises in expansion and sabotaging peace.

The culmination came this Tuesday. Sitting alongside Netanyahu, Peres celebrated his 90th birthday (two months before the real date), surrounded by a plethora of national and international celebrities, basking in their glamor like a teenager. It cost a lot – Bill Clinton alone got half a million dollars for attending.

Umm, Pax Judaica?

Once America pulls back [i.e. riding Obama Admin.] - and the dust settles, [hypothetically, as Moshiach is in the cards as well] - you will have the next version of Pax Britannica - Americana in Pax Judaica. Within 10 years max - Israel is the ruling state.

The Telegraph:

A revanchist Russia ships arms to her allies. Iranian revolutionary guards arrive along the eastern Mediterranean seaboard.

The world, it seems, can be a dangerous place. The escalating conflict in Syria is not merely a reminder of what nasty regimes can do. More ominously, it illustrates what can happen when America – still the world’s great power – sits back. Tyrants are emboldened. Regional bully boys, hemmed in by the international order, start to push and to probe. Perhaps it is just Barack Obama. Maybe it is the 44th president who has been sitting back, and his successor will be swifter to respond to local conflagrations. I hope so. But what if it is not? What if America’s post-Iraq blues, combined with that massive mountain of debt run up by successive White House administrations, make “sitting back” more normal for Washington? Are we ready for a world with less of the Pax Americana? The week that Tehran starts to move revolutionary guards around the Middle East, Britain contemplates yet more defence cuts.

Our aircraft carriers will be without any aircraft until at least 2018. Our navy has 13 frigates, and six destroyers in service – almost as many vessels as Venice had during the last days of that once-great maritime republic. Si vis pacem, para bellum, advised the Roman military strategist, Vegetius. If you want peace, prepare for war. Britain’s problem is not that we lack the resources to defend ourselves. We are the fourth-largest defence spender in the world.

Our trouble is that we are just not very good at converting what financial muscle we do have into military punch. And Whitehall seems to have an over extended idea of where our national interest lies. Successive governments have deliberately consolidated Britain’s defence industrial supply base, in the belief that it will deliver efficiencies. Yet in any market, when you constrain the supply, the seller sets the terms of trade. So, too, in defence.

For years, defence contractors have been able to run up higher costs in the knowledge that they can simply pass them on to the taxpayer. Even after the latest changes to defence procurement announced last week, contractors will still have guaranteed profit margins.

Despite all that the defence lobbyists tell us, there is nothing patriotic about “sovereignty of supply” if it leaves Britain unable to muster the military kit we need, when we need it. Too often the defence budget seems to be spent in the interests of a few powerful contractors, rather than in the interests of statecraft.

Before we ask whether Britain should arm Syrian rebels, we need to ask if we are doing everything we should be doing to properly arm ourselves.

"After Rabbi Katz gave my reading I was overwhelmed by it. He covered every aspect of the name. Some aspects describe things that have always spoken to me, or have facinated me. Other aspects of the name have come to inspire me to understand my mission and how I should accomplish it. As the sages say "the name causes." I have listened to the audio several times and each time a different aspect stands out. It's like it keeps on giving. I could go on and on about what his reading has done for me, but I think the best thing that can be said is, why take my word for it, experience it for yourself. You will be just as satisfied too. Don't wait!"

Tall Tales of Balak and Bilaam: A Light of Messiah Shining Through

                                                                  Parashas Balak
Torat Hashem In The Eyes Of Gerim
                                                                 Rabbi David Katz
[Live Class Motzie Shabbat: Article In-Depth; details below]

Parashas Balak and Bilaam’s prophecy is the climax of the Torah that takes place before a dramatic Messianic conclusion, one that concludes the Torah, until the credits and appendix are given in the form of an official end to Bamidbar followed with the reiteration of the Torah in Devarim. [Devarim is also called Mishna Torah –lit. doubled, retaught] From the very beginning we encounter the fear of Balak, very reminiscent of Rashi’s account of the Torah’s very first words, as he describes Creation’s account from the perspective of Nation’s seeking to claim territory from Israel. This is indeed Balak’s concern; this along  with every pertinent moment in the Parsha, such that we literally experience six thousand years of Torah history and knowledge of God in a jam packed Parsha that can only be seen from  the eyes of the Ger.

Bilaam’s eyes function as an anti-Ger, Amalekite [when joined with Balak – the letters of their names form “heart of Amalek”], while the Ger is the Light of the Moshiach from the Parsha’s opening words – “Ger”(ed) Moav before the Nation. [The term Ger here has multiple connotations that play into the intellect of the Parsha] In Parashas Balak, we are privileged to watch the dynamic mazal [divine movement and unfolding of reality] of Redemption of the Ger through the Ger. The Torah is woven of one fabric and seven wisdoms of Babylon, while the Messianic quilt is seen from the true wisdom of the Ger in a divine language that only he speaks.

The Parasha’s opening account of Balak’s perceptions and fears in the Land of Moav [language “Ger”; meaning fear, dwelled, etc.] are the flavor and operating system the engineers the Parsha into an accurate display of the entire Torah from Creation through Exiles and up to the Ultimate Final Redemption. The Midrash makes known several of the key factors that play into this account of divine reality, such as, “Israel and their Land”, “Israel intermingling with Nations” [for the good and bad], “Israel and their plunder” [also for the good and bad], “Israel’s border” [and the nature of expansion], “Israeli conspiracy” [to and fro],  “Israel at war” [attack of Israel, Torah, and/or Hashem to seek eradication of the Divine Plan], along with the “powers of speech” – i.e. conquering with Torah and Noahide Law that will bring the World to recognize God through the Mind as opposed to agencies of physical combat.

Under these terms, the Nations would wage battle with the cardinal figure in these war games in a Man named Moses, while fate would constantly erect the proverbial diviner [anti-Joseph (/Messiah)] in Bilaam. Whereas Israel is personally animated by the dazzle of God’s Presence amidst their camp, depicting a Holy Mazal that reflects the construct of Creation’s true essence [kabbalah], the power of Bilaam lies in his ability the perceive God’s hand moving along the surface like a snake. By engaging in the evil eye / loshon hara, guessing, and ignorance in God’s names, i.e. true kabbalah, Balak has honored Bilaam with an opportunity to gaze upon Israel, and give voice of praise [to the Other Side] through powers of exploitation, such that through windows of mazal, essential chinks in the armor can be brought to light and to the demise of Israel, quenching the fear of Balak and Moav.

Bilaam would then be seen with Balak in covert espionage expeditions, prowling alongside Israel, in constant communion with a god in the flesh, in attempt to highlight with powers of the mouth, the sinful ways of Israel. Yet Bilaam would soon be dismayed by a perception that recalls the proverbial Iyov. [Job]

Iyov was righteous before God, to the extent that the Satan came to testify against Iyov claiming that he isn’t tested, and should he be tested, he would sin before God. In the end, Iyov was tested, and through trials he did indeed prevail before God. One fascinating claim by Iyov however, was that he asked God, “Why bother me? I prevailed in the end anyways; couldn’t it have been a quicker redemption had you just left me alone?! Either way I was going to serve you!” Iyov’s claim that was while left alone, Holiness clings to service of God; this would explain the Creation of Adam, his fall, and his ultimate promised supernatural messianic repair. Likewise with Israel, before the heat of Moav was ignited, Israel clung to the garment of God’s will. Bilaam had no choice but to praise and Bless Israel.
By the time Bilaam throws in the towel of apparent defeat, he will have painted an incredible tale of Gerim in Torah, a Blessing and flow of mazal that dominates the whole Parasha and narrates all of existence with God!

As mentioned, the Parasha’s opening words [of the language “Ger”] depict the Jew in History and what will prove to be a story of Gerim amongst Gerim. Whether in relation to the Land of Israel [and thus Ger Toshav, achievement of Seven Laws of Noah; powers of war through speech – Oral Torah], exile and redemption – for the sake of Gerim, and understanding the truth of the Nation of Israel, and its association as a Ger among Gerim; all topics that come to grab attention in the End of Days, showing why the Redemption of the Ger is “Tachlis Geulah” [the plateau essence of redemption].

Even amongst Bilaam’s Blessings, he reveals: the prophetic wisdom of the Ger, in knowledge of Torah mazal, kabbalah [even if from the negative, by his lack of clear knowledge] which comes from Noah and his laws [obvious proof that Bilaam and Balak were adamantly against Laws of Noah], the position of the Ger in relation to Israel in brotherhood, Gerim brothers in Torah, tradition from Shem and Ever, Jews and Gerim from exile to Moshiach –in association to the Ger and his source from Jethro and attachment with Ten Lost Tribes that come back with Moshiach. Bilaam gives testimony in his Blessings that the Jew and the Ger are so intertwined and bound up from the Creation of both, in a saga that extends through Redemption, and brings Peace to Hashem’s Creation, while sanctifying Bereishit together in Torah. This is where Bilaam found a God that ironically he knew not.

Once Balak continued with his immoral ways and Bilaam returned to study the new mazal that he stumbled upon, the powers of Amalek finally materialized in the weakness of the mouth of the People; Bilaam’s god finally showed the path to impurity of this People, and it would come by the hands of his own brother – the Gerim. The Torah can be seen entirely in this distorted light, from Cain and Able, Abraham and Lot, Jafeth and Shem, Ishmael and Esav, Tribes and Joseph, and now through Moav and Midian in the guise of Israel and the Ger. As Bilaam watched Hashem [his god] pave the path to eternal exile, Hakadosh Baruch Hu [The Holy One Blessed Be He] was preparing the Tenth Red Heifer – for from impurity, comes Purity. Meanwhile Moses realized to remain silent, Pinchas rose and saw the Path to the Tree of Life and sanctified “sechel” – the intellect that lies beyond the plane of logic, a Ger in this World, the Purifying Light promised by the prophet Malachi, of which Pinchas is its messenger. For every Golden Calf there is a Red Heifer; for Every mundane world of empty action with Bilaam, there is a Mazal World of God that emanates upon us from the Upper World of Atzilus.

Bilaam saw that the men of Israel were not as interested in Moabite women the way that the women were interested their men. The story of Ruth and her roots from Eglon [descended from these unions] and her husband Machlon [who for that reason sought to give her Torah of the Ger Tzedek] personifies this dynamic. This shed light on a massive attack to Holiness from the position of Bilaam, as Israelite Men would fall victim to Midianite women instead, as this unfolded before not just Bilaam’s eyes, but the nation itself, and most importantly, Pinchas.

The Torah at the end of Bamidbar informs of a rare and enigmatic law that allows for foreign women under certain conditions to be taken as wives for Israelite men, in a quasi-ger / Jewish relationship that presents itself as perhaps one of the most difficult themes found in the entire Torah; its source is a remnant to the Torah that was taught from the mouth of Shem. What makes it even more astounding is that one opinion in the Torah even allows such a condition among Priests, as Pinchas was the foundation of this law. Bilaam saw that from a Tachlis Geulah standpoint, if this goes unanswered, the Torah would become finite, and come undone by the seams; the World would return to Chaos and Void, and Bilaam would have found his long lost curse, even if in a vacuum. The only problem with this guesswork is that Bilaam already witnessed the Redemption from the prophetic mazal sanctified in Israel. This is where Bilaam was given his chance at repentance, for he was about to perceive the very Light of Moshiach that he previously dreamed of.

Once Midian gained the upper hand with powers of immorality that threaten the existence of Torah from the negative energy that emanates out of doubt and shame, it was as if most of history came and went through a compression of redemptions and exiles, that resembled the elucidation of the mission that Adam inherited from God. Israel was suddenly about to join Adam on the path of despair, until in one moment’s notice, the Tachlis of Geulah flashed in one instant that would change destiny forever, and would bring Adam back to the path of the Tree of Life; Pinchas would hit the note [that functions like a node] of the Ger – Oral Torah Lefi Pshuto [Torah from the non-verse] – an action that can only be performed by the Messiah.

If the Torah is the repair of Adam [same gematria 611], and all is in the Torah, coupled with the Messianic vision of Bilaam that he perceived in real time, then before the eyes of all who stood there, the Light of Redemption can be said to exist in chapter 25 of the Torah, the Summer Torah readings, as to which it is said, “Moshiach is born on 9th of Av” – the months of Tammuz and Av. What Pinchas did was so great, and so compact, the Torah itself would need to emulate Bilaam’s Blessings through 2000 years of Torah and 2000 years of Messiah giving Light to the original 2000 years of Chaos, in order to fully grasp the miracles that stood for Pinchas [of which it is said that there were many; a condensing of the miracles of all of Creation, that gives validity to life and death]. Pinchas rewrote Adamic [atomic] reality, for now the Torah reality would take hold, and now only would have to live itself out.

The [redemptive] Ger was now etched in stone, and for one small glorious moment, the Ger shone like the sun without its sheath as if in a scientific particle collider. All that is missing from the equation is intention – there will be a time when Pinchas completes the mission with his intention that he reiterates from a position of Messianic intent, upon which his Wisdom will be on display as a true Light to all Nations. In Torah physics, for every positive action, there is a need for an equal and greater reaction; every circumcision needs reiteration from after growth. Pinchas is thus promised to stand in the End of Days, as promised to Elijah [who is Pinchas] and to restore the Torah that Gog V’ Magog seeks to eradicate with a revisitation [and deceptive mutation], by bringing out the Torah with Messianic intentions from a position of Tachlis Geulah.

From the power of the Divine Mouth [“You should seek Torah from his lips, for he is an agent of God” – Malachi] that even Moses couldn’t open, will come the Torah of Shalom, that began with Shem to Abraham [Yirah (fear of Abraham) and Shalom (Peace of Shem)] on The Temple Mount of Jerusalem; a Messianic mission, that is retold through God’s Gerim, and in a Parasha that regurgitates Messiah mania through the Ger. We can say that for one moment in history, the Ger never shined brighter, as the higher sun stood that day for Pinchas, the Priest who came, went and stood for the Ger of God according to the Torah that is, was, and always will be written by words of Gerim, much like Parashas Balak – he who, ironically gave us God’s gift: The Ger Tzedek [as Ruth the Moabite gave us the final Messiah, Moshiach ben David – may he come soon speedily in our day, Amen].
