A New{t} President of America

The next round of fighting, one that showcases Mr. Newt, may prove quite interesting.

Palestinian leaders said on Saturday U.S. Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich had invited more conflict in the Middle East by calling the Palestinians an "invented" people who want to destroy Israel.
Saeb Erekat, a senior Palestinian official, described his comments in an interview as "despicable." Hanan Ashrawi, another top official, said Gingrich's "very racist comments" showed he was "incapable of holding public office."
"This is the lowest point of thinking anyone can reach," Erekat, a close advisor to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, told Reuters. Such comments served only to "increase the cycle of violence," he added.
"What is the cause of violence, war in this region? Denial, denying people their religion, their existence, and now he is denying our existence," said Erekat, for years a leading figure in peace talks aimed at the creation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel.
In an interview on Friday with the Jewish Channel, Gingrich predictably sided with Israel in its conflict with the Palestinians, who are seeking a state of their own on land occupied by Israel in a 1967 war.
But the former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives departed from official U.S. policy that respects the Palestinians as a people deserving of their own state based on negotiations with Israel.
"Remember, there was no Palestine as a state. It was part of the Ottoman Empire" until the early 20th century, said Gingrich, who has risen to the top of Republican polls with voting to start early next year to pick a nominee to challenge Democratic President Barack Obama in the November 2012 election.
NO "CONTRIBUTION TO PEACE"
"I think that we've had an invented Palestinian people who are in fact Arabs, and who were historically part of the Arab community. And they had a chance to go many places, and for a variety of political reasons we have sustained this war against Israel now since the 1940s, and it's tragic," he said.
There are around 11 million Palestinians around the world, Palestinian officials say. They include refugees and their descendants who left or were forced to flee their homes during the 1948 war that led to the creation of Israel. More than 4 million of them live in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The 1948 war erupted after Arab states rejected a U.N. plan that would have divided British mandate-ruled Palestine into Arab and Jewish states.
Gingrich along with other Republican candidates are seeking to attract Jewish support by vowing to bolster U.S. ties with Israel if elected.
He said both the Hamas militant group, which controls the Gaza Strip, and the Palestinian Authority, which receives financial backing from the United States, represent "an enormous desire to destroy Israel."
While Hamas remains committed to armed "resistance" and will not recognize Israel, the Palestinian Authority based in Ramallah states that only peaceful means can deliver Palestinian statehood and its security forces cooperate with Israel.
Ashrawi, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organisation Executive Committee, said Gingrich's remarks harked back to days when the Palestinians' existence as a people was denied by Israelis such as Golda Meir, prime minister from 1969 to 1974.
"It is certainly regressive," she said. "This is certainly an invitation to further conflict rather than any contribution to peace."
"This proves that in the hysterical atmosphere of American elections, people lose all touch with reality and make not just irresponsible and dangerous statements, but also very racist comments that betray not just their own ignorance but an unforgivable bias," she said.
Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman in Gaza, said the Gingrich remarks "were grave comments that represented an incitement for ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians."

Maybe 2013 will be more exciting than 2012...after all the Zohar brings in 5773, as the year of Moshiach Ben David in association with wars with Yishmael...will Newt make enough waves?

Jews On The [Eclipsed] Moon

Genesis 1:17

וַיִּתֵּן אֹתָם אֱלֹהִים בִּרְקִיעַ הַשָּׁמָיִם לְהָאִיר עַל־הָאָרֶץ
God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth

Israel is going to the Moon, and Shimon Peres is sending up elements of Torah.
Something tells me that this is of great cosmic importance: The Torah of the Moon on the Moon.

-Jpost
A group of three Israelis is taking aim at the moon.
Israel Aircraft Industries on Thursday officially launched the Space IL project, which is competing for the Google LunarX Prize aimed at generating interest among space explorers in safely landing an unmanned vehicle on the surface of the moon.
Space IL, conceived a year ago, is the brainchild of three young engineers, Yariv Bash, Kfir Damari and Yonatan Winetraub, and operates as a not-for-profit enterprise.
Aside from creating a vehicle to reach the moon, the team’s main purpose is to encourage and advance scientific education.

The end target is to make Israel a global leader in space technology.
At the event on Thursday, a mockup of the spacecraft was revealed. If the team succeeds, Israel will be the third nation to land on the moon, after the United States and Russia. Several other nations have sent vehicles which crash landed on the surface of the moon, but none have yet emulated the successes of the initial moon exploration pioneers.
President Shimon Peres was on hand to launch the project, and to inscribe a message to be sent along with the unmanned aircraft.

Peres was accompanied to the launch ceremony by Rona Ramon, the widow of astronaut Ilan Ramon. Ilan, Israel’s first astronaut, was on the illfated 2003 Columbia space ship that exploded on its return journey to earth, shortly before it was due to land.
Rona has maintained contact with both NASA – where he trained – and with the Israel Space Agency, often acting as a liaison between the two organizations.
At the ceremony, Ramon said that her husband had been Israel’s pioneer into space, and that this project is a continuation of his journey.

The project poses yet another challenge for Israel, and gives expression not only to a sense of heritage but also to a great sense of mission, and to the standards of the quality team of which Ilan Ramon was a member.
Ilan Ramon took with him to outer space a microfiche copy of the Torah, a miniature Torah Scroll rescued from the Holocaust, a barbed wire mezuza that was also a Holocaust relic, a dollar bill that had once been in the hand of the Lubavitcher Rebbe and a work of art, Moon Landscape, by Petr Ginz, a 14-year-old who was killed in Auschwitz.

Like Ilan Ramon, Peres, in sending a message to the moon, embraced Israel’s most ancient source – the Bible. Taking his inspiration from the first chapter of Genesis, Peres inscribed the verse “...and let them be lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth” on a piece of parchment. The text was written in Hebrew.

Peres met with the initiators of the project and with the young Israeli scientists who are working on it. From them he received a comprehensive
briefing on the engineering and construction process of the spacecraft.
In his subsequent address, Peres lauded all those who are involved in putting Israel on the international space exploration map.

“Inasmuch as Israel is a leader in technology,” he said, “technology may lead Israel to even greater heights.” Technology, Peres emphasized, is the strongest factor in Israel’s economy.
IAI Chairman Dov Baharav characterized Space IL as an outstanding example of new initiatives with extraordinary challenges. The IAI as a leader in Israel’s space industry is proud to be part of the project he said, and is eager to
strengthen education in space technology.

The team comprises engineers, business people and media personalities who are hooked on space technology, plus many technology-minded volunteers from many fields. The hope is that their combined knowledge, creativity and ability to think outside of the box will give Israel the edge it requires over other competitors.
Prizes totaling $30 million will be distributed to those teams whose vehicles travel at least 500 meters along the surface of the moon and transmit images and data back to earth. Israel is among 29 competing teams.

The Eclipse is happening Motzie Shabbos...adding to the Moon drama.

The pussuk that Peres is sending to the Moon, is one of the biggest expressions that explain 2012 phenomena al pi Targum Onkelos in Aramaic, explaing how the goal of the Heavens is to shine their lights upon the Earth from the Firmament.
Is this a hakduma to 2012?
Will we see the cosmic reaction in 5772? Light on Earth? Beis Hamikdash while we're at it!

Menachem Mendel ben Chana / Levi Yitzchak Schneersohn

Initial Letters: מלב משיח / From the Heart of Moshiach

מנחם מענדל: is 332:  (אליהו זכור לטוב) Eliyahu zachor letov, to announce geulah

מנחם= is 138, צמח, the name of the final redeemer; מענדל = is 194, צדק,thus making the name "צמח צדק", righteousness will flourish; the original Tzemech Tzedek said, "Think Good and it will be Good", thus the Rebbe showed to be a true Tzemech Tzedek; The Rebbe said of the Tzemach Tzedek's work "Ohr HaTorah" that it contains all the previous and future teachings of the Chabad Rebbes

לוי יצחק = is 254 = "Od Yosef Chai", Yosef still lives, for better or for worse, we are closer to Moshiach ben Yosef and his tafkid due to the Rebbe's presence and knowledge of Redemption; making geulah and a Moshiach Ben Yosef relevant; one could even say the Rebbe fulfillled many aspects of a bechina of Moshiach Ben Yosef of the Dor, as per the Gra's conception of Geulah, wars of Hashem , etc...[Kol Hator]

בן לוי יצחק...is 306, אשה... since the Rebbe had no children, and remained married, the "Woman" remained a central theme of his spirituality, gufa.

שניאורסון: = is שני או רסון: comes to ר''ס''ון [of remez then sod, constant condition of pardes, chassidus - remez, sod pshat drush, as per rectified level of pardes] : שני ([is the second, ie sod [secret], as pardes would usually be : pshat remez drush sod, focusing on the second in the rectified order, or last normative: sod/secret, the tachlis of torah equalling pshat/simple meaning]..thereby: "second" (sod/secret, coming at the end of Pardes Normative) - or [או] "pardes [exegesis in Torah] rectified = שני-או-רסון (Remez to Sod, followed by Pshat and Drush); The difference: where is the Sod level in Teaching Torah, levels of exegesis in Torah and Chassidus

משל מחיב: the Torah's anecdotes come to obligate one to Mitzvos, out of Cheshek: Love of Torah, from the Heart.

קנה - [loshon of Abraham and Shem at Har Bayit, קנה...אל עליון- maker of Heaven and Earth] / נקה - acquitted = למי נ ...the one who is acquitted/acquiring Heaven and Earth is he who is of "perfect Binah/Understanding"

Initial Letters: מחיל בשם: to enliven by name, personal chizuk; בחיל ממש...total envigoration...חיל שם מ''ב, arousing the Name of Ana Ba-Koach [42, of the Mochin - Intellect of Creation, as explained in Kabala/Zohar]

לוי יצחק שניאורסון = is 927, Armilos spelled in full: the power to negate the שר ערב רב =ארמילוס...a sign of the end just before Moshiach, when Armilos approached Moshiach Ben Yosef [even of the Generation]...same concept as Moshiach (358) is the Ko-ach to negate the Nachash (358)

Initial Letters: שמי מחלב...My name is from milk [mother's]...Sarah when she fed Isaac had the ability to impart God-Fearing to her child, as well as all the children she miraculously nursed - such is the strength of a righteous woman..his strength/name came from the milk - nurturing.

Holy Higgs God Particle, Batman!

Higgs Boson (God Particle in Physics) Action!

The "Holy Grail" of Physics (claiming to have dibs on God) is ready to be revealed...Major news coming from Geneva; chalking up another sector of the world that has high aspirations for 2012 (with the Moshiachists chiming in, seeing this as an option for the doomsday avenue). Will the LHC being pushed full throttle help usher in Geulah? Are these guys (including Erev Rav Scientists) testing God's authority over Creation?

A respected scientist from the Cern particle physics laboratory has told the BBC he expects to see "the first glimpse" of the Higgs boson next week.

It comes as the search for the mysterious fundamental particle reaches its endgame.

If so, this will be a significant milestone for teams at the famous Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

The particle-accelerating machine on the French-Swiss border was built with the hunt for the Higgs as a key goal.

The collider smashes beams of protons together in head-on collisions, with signs of the Higgs boson, perhaps, in the debris.

The Higgs boson is notoriously difficult to define, but its existence helps us to understand why particles have mass.

The search for the Higgs has become the hottest pursuit in modern physics. It is separate from the unexpected announcement in September of the apparently faster-than-light neutrinos, a result which is still puzzling the world of physics, and has taken the limelight recently.

'Growing sense of excitement'
Next Tuesday, two separate teams will each reveal the outcome of trawling through their latest data from LHC collisions. A spokesman for one of these teams told us that this year alone they've searched the remains of some 350 trillion collisions, with only ten or so producing candidates for a reliable sign of the Higgs.

Professor John Ellis: "We've been living with Higgs theory now for almost 50 years... it's become our Holy Grail"
The two teams of scientists work independently, using two separate detectors - called ATLAS and CMS - each relying on different technologies. This way they provide an independent cross-check for each other. How closely their results agree will be an important measure of how significant a finding they can claim.

The teams are sworn to secrecy, but various physics blogs, and the canteens at Cern, are alive with talk of a possible sighting of the Higgs, and with a mass inline with what many physicists would expect.

The teams have been focussing-in on the Higgs by ruling out energy ranges where it might be lurking. They now expect to see it at around 120 to 125 GeV (gigelectronvolts), where one GeV is about the mass of a proton.

Professor John Ellis, a former head of theoretical physics at Cern, told Newsnight's science editor Susan Watts about the growing sense of excitement at Cern, a week ahead of that key science meeting next Tuesday.

"I think we are going to get the first glimpse. The LHC experiments have already looked high and low for this missing piece. It could be that it weighs several hundred times the proton mass, but that seems very unlikely, then there's a whole intermediate range where we know it cannot be, then there's the low mass range where we actually expect it might be. There seem to be some hints emerging there... and that's what we're going to learn on Tuesday".

Professor Ellis, who is now a guest professor at Cern, and was recently made James Clerk Maxwell professor at King's College, London, told Newsnight that finding the Higgs matters hugely to modern physics.

"What we have at the moment is something we call the Standard Model, that describes all fundamental particle physics. You can think of it as being an enormous giant Jigsaw puzzle, but there's a piece missing right in the middle there. We have been looking for this for 30 years now, and finally, maybe, hidden under the back of the LHC sofa…we are finally finding it".

The teams at Cern will not claim next week's result as an official "discovery" - a so-called 5-sigma event. This is because they have not yet produced enough experimental data to make that claim. That will come next year, probably by the summer.

Journalists are being told to wait for the briefing after next week's scientific meeting, but researchers whom Susan Watts spoke to in the coffee shops of Cern were finding it hard to keep the smiles from their faces.

Understandably perhaps, the director of research at Cern, Sergio Bertolucci, is being more cautious than Professor Ellis. He told me, somewhat enigmatically: "It's too early to say…I think we may get indications that are not consistent with its non-existence." He expects next Tuesday's results to amount to less than the formal definition of "evidence", but said the statistics will be "very interesting".

"I would be very inclined to say just that we will not give anything except an update which will tell people we are on a good path to the discovery."

Mr Bertolucci told Newsnight: "This hunt for the Higgs is like fishing in an ancient way… instead of using modern tools you are removing the water from the pond… it might look tedious but it is the only way, at the end of the day, when you have removed all the water from the pond to find the smallest fish."

We can expect Creation and God's providence over Creation to react to these events...what will the LHC chutzpah trigger as a Cosmic Response?

5772...Looking strong in the Physics Neighborhood...Scientists also have just found the first planet that can support life...yet another "Holy Grail" moment in science.

Will Creation's Symmetry spawn WW3? Arab Winter? Iran & Galus Yishmael? The LHC should kick up some serious dirt.

5772/2012...The Year of Hashem.

The Moshiach, The Mahdi, and The Chaos

The chaos of being a 12er...Iran is killing for their Mahdi/Messiah to come...will this be part of the prophecy of 5772 the Zohar speaks about?
The Zohar of 2012/5772 speaks about the wars with Yishmael before the end..and Peras/Persia/Iran is what the Maharal calls, "Malchus of Yishmael"

The single greatest threat to America’s national security today is posed by a group of Islamic Shiite extremists, led by their Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and their non-cleric president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in Iran. These two men are on a mission to arm Iran with nuclear weapons. Both claim they have already been visited by the Mahdi—a religious figure who disappeared in the ninth century as a child, ascending into a state of occultation where he remains until conditions are right for his return to Earth. Upon his return, Mahdi supposedly will restore Islam’s greatness as non-Muslims subordinate themselves to the religion or die. And both men claim Mahdi’s return will come soon, during their lifetimes, possibly in 2012.

While uninformed non-Muslims might content themselves believing time will simply prove these two religious zealots wrong, time is exactly what the Iranian leaders are banking on to enable them to create the right conditions for Mahdi’s return. However, while non-believers know Mahdi’s return will never occur, it is the conditions Iran’s two madmen seek to create for the rest of the world to usher in Mahdi’s return that should generate great concern for us.

Khamenei and Ahmadinejad believe the door for Mahdi’s return will only open once the world is immersed in global chaos. It does not take a rocket scientist to recognize this is why Tehran’s leaders seek to possess nuclear weapons. In their minds, use of those weapons will be the key to unlock the door. This game plan for Mahdi’s return has been set forth numerous times by Iran’s leadership. Not only does our President fail to heed Tehran’s message, he fails to warn the American people of an assassin who has us in the crosshairs of his nuclear “sights.”

While Obama’s actions of omission and commission have increased the threat posed by Tehran, last week the President added to the equation an act of submission.

In a rare example of bipartisan cooperation, the Senate last week passed a bill by a vote of 100 to 0 to impose the most stringent sanctions to date against Iran. The Senate, taking heed of a November 9, 2011 International Atomic Energy Agency report that Iran will, within a year, possess a nuclear weapon, sought to take action now to impose sanctions that would have a much harsher impact on Iran’s economy. The vote was an indictment by both political parties that Obama is a weak fish in stopping Iran’s nuclear arms program. Even our European allies favor an effort to impose tougher sanctions on Tehran. Yet, inexplicably, the President’s response to the Senate vote was simply to raise his objection to its passing the legislation.

And the President has gone even further in his effort not to interfere with Iran’s nuclear objectives. While Obama said on November 30 the US will not compromise on Israel’s security, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta delivered a speech three days later arguing against Israel attacking Iran. Thus the President, by his actions, not only demonstrates to Iran he will not take military action or impose stricter economic sanctions, but that he also will discourage Israel from taking action independently. Obama is telling Tehran he will accept a nuclear armed Iran.

There is an interesting difference between the oath Obama took when he was sworn in as President and the oath a military officer takes. Obama swore he would “to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” Military officers are held to a higher standard swearing to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” ending with “So help me God.” The wiggle words “to the best of my ability” in the presidential oath would relieve Commander-in-Chief Obama of liability for naively and negligently choosing not to defend against an obvious Islamic extremist threat to our national security. Once Iran lets loose its nuclear fury, that will be the point at which Obama unleashes a US military force, led by officers sworn to the defense of our country, to do what he refused to do. But, by that time, millions will have died as a result of his naiveté.

Will Ahmed' be the key to Wars with Yishmael? Is Iran the final piece of Arab Spring? - Meaning, are the Arab States that are coming down, leading to something bigger and a destined fall of the Angelic Leaders in Shamayim? (Every nation in Heaven has an Angelic Host; Yishmael has 12 - are they coming down - with Iran being the final strike of the hammer?)

May it be 5772 we will find Jerusalem rebuilt.

Erev Rav, Erev Katan, Erev Amalek?

The Torah learns out that there are two main types of Erev Rav opposition: Erev Rav and Erev Katan. (The Great One and the Lesser One)

The Mincha Prayer which has a hidden time period called, "Plag HaMincha" (The Time-Period) of the Latter Portion of Mincha...allows Time to continue, giving one the power of Patience, Ability to Wait, and the feeling of having More Time.
Erev Rav/Katan seek to waste and ruin our Time.

R'Furmanski wrote:

The technical term is "Erev-Zuta/Zeir", "zuta" means small, little, same as "Zeir" or "za'ir" in Hebrew, all mean tiny, miniature, liliputian, i.e. small, little, etc.

The basic definitions:
a) Erev Rav -- the sparks of the Da'at (that were mixed into the Nogah (klilpah)) ("erev-rav" in gematria is 474, same as "da'at") (see "Me'orei-Ohr" letter "Ayin").

b) Erev Zuta -- the sparks from the Yessod (that...Nogah)

Zohar "Ki-Tisa" P. 191 -- discusses the difference between the "erev-rav" and the "erev-ze'ira." This were the klipah of the mixed multitude that once 6 hours passed ("boshesh etc. etc.) ignited the people to gang against Aharon. The "erev-rav" started their rebelion once the time reached 6.5 hours i.e. 1/2 hour after mid-day until 9.5 hours (3.5 hours from mid-day) the segment of time we call "betwee minchah gedolah (6.5) and minchah ketanah(9.5)). Then from 9.5 hourse of the day until the end of the day it was the "erev-ze'ira" and as the Zohar explains there that there were two "erevs" as the term "erev-rav" itself includes the letters of "rav" twice, once in each word, i.e. there were two erevs, one from minchah-gedolah until minchah-ketanah and one passed minchah-ketanah, and from here are their names. As mentioned above this stands for two major kelipot, from da'at and from yessod, and yessod is indeed the "continuation" of the da'at and is also called da'at as the zivug is called da'at -- Adam "yada" et Chavah -- da'at means union, relationships, two levels of the kelipah, spiritually two levels of lies -- instinctually being in nature not honset and a lier (yessod), and conceptually, i.e. weak values that "kosher" "logicelly" the use of lies (as there are no values).

This is explicitly quated in Kitvei-Ha'arizal in "Likutei-Torah on Parshat "Miketz" (the drush on the verse "lechu el yosef") that there were two types of them erev rav and erev-katan, and it quotes there the zohar above -- erev-rav & erev zeir, erev rav came from da'at-elyon and erev-zeir came from the yessod (kelipot).

Moshiach is really a 5772 formula going back to Moshe : Wait to Wait to Wait (Fractal Time)
Patience is the Tikkun Of Adam in Gan Eden to get to Shabbos: [Wait] to Wait:- to Wait.[Wait with Simcha]
5772- Still Waiting!

The Jewish American Israeli Capitalist

I firmly believe the Land Issue in Israel is because all of the Jews are not yet here in Israel.
Can the two Nations coexist? Plus, the majority of Jews now live in Israel!

There is a new concept in the World, something that has never happened: A Jew living in the Jewish Land.

All through history, Jews were Babylonian, Canaanites, Greek-Influenced, etc...Today: Jews are Jewish in the Jewish Land...Perhaps not Torah-Based, yet very Jewish.
What will be the reality once more and more Jews come to the Land?

Israel's prime minister suspended a television ad campaign aimed at luring home Israelis living in North America after it sparked an uproar among American Jews, his spokesman said Sunday.
The government-sponsored advertisements, which were broadcast on Israeli TV and in large American markets, tried to warn Israelis that their children could lose their Israeli and Jewish identities if they were raised in the United States and not in Israel. That set off virulent opposition among American Jews, who complained that the commercials were demeaning to their Jewish identity.
The campaign touched on the sensitive relations between Israeli and American Jews, and the growing rift between them. Israel depends heavily on the political and financial support of American Jews, but the two sides are often at odds regarding politics and religion.
Israel's Orthodox-run rabbinate, for instance, doesn't always recognize marriages and conversions performed by Conservative and Reform rabbis abroad. And American Jews, who are largely politically liberal, are often ill at ease with hawkish Israeli policies and legislation.
In one of the advertisements, Israeli grandparents sit in front of the traditional Hanukkah candelabra while speaking to their granddaughter on Skype. When they ask the child to name the holiday they're celebrating, she says "Christmas."
In another, a napping father can't hear his son's calls of "daddy" and only stirs awake when he hears the word "abba" — Hebrew for father. A third, shows an emotional Israeli woman marking Israel's Memorial Day and her non-Israeli partner unable to relate. The adds are all capped by the slogan: "They will remain Israeli, their children won't. Help them come home."
Israel's embassy in Washington and consulates in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco were inundated with protests from offended American Jews. The Jewish Federations of North America, the Anti-Defamation League and other Jewish groups condemned the ads.
Abraham Foxman, the national director for the Anti-Defamation League, called the ads "unsubtle, crude and heavy-handed."
"I think it's offensive. It comes out of an ignorance. Most Israelis don't understand how American Jewish life works," he told The Associated Press.
Faced with an uproar, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quickly reversed course and suspended the ads Friday.
"We are obviously very sensitive to concerns raised by the American Jewish community and the minute we understood that Jewish Americans saw a problem, the prime minister immediately acted and suspended the program," said Netanyahu spokesman Mark Regev.
"We are always very attentive to concerns raised by the American Jewish community," Regev said.
It's not the first time an Israeli government project has upset Jewish Americans.
In 2009, it yanked an ad campaign against Jewish assimilation after it outraged Jews abroad who saw the campaign as an attack on intermarriage — the common phenomenon of Jews marrying non-Jews.
Statistics show that in the U.S. — home to the largest Jewish community outside Israel — about half the marriages of Jews over the past 25 years have been mixed.
Jewish leaders have long warned that the Diaspora's identity is eroding as more Jews marry out of faith and blend into the non-Jewish mainstream. Meanwhile, Israel has established its own, unique persona, foreign to that of Jews overseas.
Over the years, hundreds of thousands of Israelis have settled in the United States for financial and professional advancement.
Israel's Ministry of Immigrants Absorption said the goal of its campaign was to target the "soft spots" of Israelis abroad and "their national identity." It denied it was trying to interfere with "the personal choices of Jewish people in the United States or despising their way of living."
Nachman Shai, an opposition lawmaker, said that trying to bring home Israelis was a fine cause, but not at the price of alienating American Jews.
"The ads indicate that there is an unimaginable gap between an Israeli and an American. Our whole thesis is based on a bridge and a connection. Now this ad comes and says 'you, the Americans, will never understand us,'" he told Channel 10 TV.

Edomite Apology: Do-Over!

Perhaps there is a Cosmic Yovel Year?

With the Mayan 2012 theory kicking in, perhaps there is a Universal Shabbat, where all cycles "start over."

In Banking there is a new trend flying about: The Banking Yovel (Jubilee).

It seems that not only in the Torah is there a need for Yovel, but in the Wisdom of the Edomite World as well they are seeing Torah reality.

Certain things in Torah just have to be for a society to work: No Debt/Interest, Yovel, Tzeddaka, Myser - Trumah, etc.

Society just doesn't work without Torah principles...they are trying to make the World work by Man, and are now seeing God must be programmed into the psyche.

This is what Joseph was doing in Egypt, to try to weather the storm there, and to provide conditions for a thriving Middle Class. Without Middle Class, society falls..and the Torah governs davka from a thriving Middle Class...which only Torah can maintain.

Perhaps Yovel, Shabbos, Charity, etc. is all that can save the World at this point...in Torah terms thats called Moshiach: to realize Torah works in the World, and not the opposite, as being archaic.

We have often discussed the temporary and tenuous nature of any and all government-suggested solutions so far to the European crisis on the basis that the 'model' is broken. Following the decision to go for PSI, and the possibility of a sovereign leaving the Euro-zone (Greek referendum ultimatum), money is no longer fungible in and across European banks (deposits) and sovereigns as it seeks the stability of a narrower and narrower core. Arnaud Mares, of Morgan Stanley, who wrote the initial and definitive Greek story long before most others, brings up this very point; questioning the fungibility of Greek Euro deposits with French Euro deposits, for example, and interpreting the situation as a 'run on banks and governments'. His view that without a clear path to a fiscal lender of last resort - or a true fiscal federalism across a united Europe - which ensures solvent governments will never go illiquid, then the December 9th decisions mark a bifurcation point of critical import.

If governments choose to engage on the route to fiscal federalism, we believe that this does not mark the end of the crisis. It could, however, mark the beginning of the end of the crisis, as it would be a decisive first step towards stabilisation and a European federation. The alternative could well be the beginning of the end for the European confederation.
Europe has to choose between debt assumption (enhanced federal control of national budgets accompanied by centralised funding of governments) "and a debt jubilee (wide-scale debt repudiation)", with all the social, economic and political consequences this entails. Mares' framework for considering the words and deeds of December 9th is critical, though complex, reading to comprehend the tipping point we are at.

On Europe's Hamiltonian Moment:

One year ago, we wrote that Europe was heading fast towards a crossroads where it would have to choose between "a debt jubilee (wide-scale debt repudiation)" and debt assumption (a form of fiscal federalism with enhanced control over national budgets accompanied by centralised funding of governments). We think this bifurcation point has now been reached.

By December 9, heads of state and government ought to outline how they intend to amend the constitutional arrangements under which Europe – or at the very least the euro area – operates. Should they set out a clear, consistent and workable policy orientation, which includes both fiscal control and a mechanism to keep compliant governments fully funded, this can in our view constitute a decisive first step towards stabilisation. Should they fail to deliver a credible framework encompassing both these dimensions, we would expect that the ongoing ‘run’ on governments and banks will accelerate, and it is seriously to be feared that it can no longer be stopped. The economic, social and political consequences could be unfathomable. The next few weeks are therefore a critical moment in European history, in our view.

On the growing cracks in the fungibility of money:

Money in a fiat money system is a liability of a bank: of the central bank for banknotes and other forms of central bank money; of a commercial bank for commercial money (deposits).

If one or more countries can leave the euro, or at the extreme if the euro can break up altogether, this raises questions as to whether these different forms of money are fully fungible. Is one euro of deposit in a Greek bank still fully fungible with one euro in banknote form? Is one euro of deposit in a Greek bank still fully fungible with one euro of deposit in an Italian bank, and is the latter still fungible with one euro of deposit in a French bank, or a German bank, etc.?

Pursuing this reasoning leads to the inescapable conclusion that the more plausible it is that a country can leave the euro, the greater the incentives for depositors to move their deposits from the banks of almost all countries towards those of the country that remains the safe haven by convention if for no better reason: Germany. We believe that such behaviour, in turn, would (and judging by anecdotal information received from our clients, does) increase funding pressure on all banks, intensify incentives to accelerate the de-leveraging of the banking system and raise further the spectre of a credit crunch.

Amalek: The Enemy Within And One To Live Without

The Vilna Gaon says there are 3 types of Amalek: (that imprison and take the life away from man)
1) Of the Heart: vices and lusts and yetzer hara
2) Of the Spiritual: The Samech Mem, and the Satan and his Bride
3) Of the Physical: Esav, Yishmael, and Erev Rav

We are all prisoners to our personal Amalek. Here is a first hand account of being a prisoner to Amalek in realtime. This may be a hint of what one goes through either in his Heart,Body, or Soul (Heart-Spiritual-Physical; Personal Amalek)

Grapel: I'm no Gilad Shalit
Israeli American Ilan Grapel, who was held in Egypt on espionage charges, recalls hellish experience
Smadar Shir

A month after his release from Egyptian prison and his return to his parents' home in New York Ilan Grapel, who was held in Egypt for four months on espionage charges, shares the story of his hellish imprisonment in Cairo with Yedioth Ahronoth

It was Sunday, June 12 at 8:30 am, Grapel was still sleeping when 30 men in civilian clothing barged to the room. Two of them asked him what his name was and which citizenship he carried.

Grapel pointed to his two passports, American and Israeli and hoped that would be the end of it: "I was sure they would take me to a police station and then the US Ambassador would arrive and everything would be fine," he recalls.

"But when they put the handcuffs on I started to get scared. When we got to the street and I saw the black van, they called it a 'limousine' my fears grew. Then I was blindfolded and put in the van. At this stage I knew they were Egyptian security services and I told myself: God, I just hope I don't become the second Azam Azam."

He spent 150 days in a four-by-four meter room, two weeks of which he spent in complete confinement that made him nearly lose his mind. Since his release on October 27, during which 25 Egyptian prisoners were released, he has been shutting himself in his parents home, trying to get used to his new situation.

Grapel may be free, but the memories won't let him go. "At the beginning of the investigation, the Egyptian prosecutor told me I was suspected of spying.

I answered in Arabic that there was nothing to talk about; he claimed that I needed a translator. I told him: "I'm learning Arabic and I'd like to improve my knowledge of the language. He didn't smile and told me: 'Are you crazy? You're looking at five life sentences'."

In the holding cell Grapel tried to keep himself busy by exercising and in order to make sure that he didn't lose his voice he says he "hummed the songs I had heard at the youth hostel." He added: "I also tried to make every meal last as long as possible. I washed my hands before eating bread, that's five minutes and the blessing on the bread is another five minutes.

"During the month of Ramadan I fasted and only ate in the evening so that the prison guards would see that I respect them and maybe like me, time just stood still."

Not like Gilad Shalit
Even now, when he is far away from Egypt and the threat of incarceration, Grapel emphasized: "I wasn't tortured in prison. Not in the conventional sense of the word. They didn't rip out my fingernails. They didn't break my back. But I spent 150 days in a room with a bed, a chair and a barred window, without any company, without having any idea what the next move would be."

During the interview Grapel shared one of the toughest moments of his time in Egyptian captivity: "After two weeks in solitary confinement I told the investigator: Give me the death sentence. He answered: 'That's not possible; there isn't war between Israel and Egypt."

Grapel says that during his imprisonment he often thought of Gilad Shalit but asks that no comparisons be made between the two cases. "The circumstances are different," he explained. "He was taken hostage as a soldier in uniform; I was a civilian who came to help. I told myself that if Gilad was enduring fore fie years, I can't break. I would not have felt comfortable if I had been released in exchange for terrorists."

In retrospect, Grapel still finds it hard to understand exactly what the Egyptians wanted from him. "I think I was arrested because I am Israeli and I was released because I am an American. And I think it took such a long time because the Egyptians didn't know how to climb down the proverbial tree."

Moshe built an altar and called it Adon-ay-Nissi [G-d is my banner] saying, "The hand is on G-d's Throne. G-d will be at war with Amalek for all generations." (Shemos 17:15-16)

Will Amalek be blotted out in 5772?
