Atheist In Heaven - Does It Matter?

Irony at its best:

The single biggest God proponent of this young century: an atheist.
It makes sense midda kinneged midda, because science probably only has a leg to stand on because of the Torah i.e. Bereishit.

Welcome to the lunacy of the Higgs....can't we just say, "'OK', God created the World.Done?"

Scotsman.com:

SCOTS scientist Professor Peter Higgs has urged the public to stop calling the Higgs boson the “God particle” – because he is an atheist. The scientist came up with the theory of a sub-atomic particle, since dubbed the Higgs boson, which would explain the mystery of how things have mass. But he wants people to stop referring to it as the “God particle” because he does not believe the particle holding the physical fabric of the universe together is the work of an almighty creator.

Prof Higgs, 83, who lives in Edinburgh, said: “First of all, I’m an atheist. The second thing is, I know that name was a kind of joke and not a very good one. I think he shouldn’t have done that as it’s so misleading.” The phrase, an allusion to the particle’s importance and elusiveness, was coined for a popular science book from 1993 by Leon Lederman, a Nobel prize-winning physicist, and Dick Teresi, a science writer.

In the book God particle, Lederman writes: “Why God particle? The publisher wouldn’t let us call it the Goddamn particle.” Higgs has become a global celebrity over the past year since the discovery of a particle consistent with the Higgs boson, which he predicted in 1964

It has always amazed me how brilliant scientists can be lacking in basic understanding.....

Sometimes it takes something like an NDE to wake them up:

All chochmah goes out the window when there is no G-D in the equation. The arrogance of the scientists and science, and Leah is right, they lack basic understanding.

The Talmud states that before the Moshiach "the kingdom will be converted to heresy" - נתהפך המלכות למינות -
which the the charismatic false messiah Shabsai Tzvi interpreted as meaning "even in the Kingdom of Heaven they will become heretics!"

This had a big effect on his followers and the subsequent Frankists, in providing a warped excuse to allow them to indulge & degenerate in to antinomian misdeeds such as eating on Tisha b'Av, smoking on Shabbos, committing adultery & incest, eating swine etc, all under the guise of performing legitimate 'new' mitzvos in their minds!

With the Haredim today becoming increasingly demoralised and shallow, and the state of rabbinic leadership becoming parlous, if a charismatic figure appeared preaching something novel and Messianicly exciting (eg Yoshki, Shabsai Tzvi, Jacob Frank and others), don't say that a large part of Orthodox Jewry couldn't quickly go totally off the derech again! After all, it says of the Anti-Moshiach Armilus that he will be able to trick everyone in to believing that he is G-d and that they will worship him!

Guess those orthodox Jews that would follow him, with all of the avodah zorah, really never had yirat shamayim. Many of them just know their rituals, without the real understanding of yirat/ahavat H'. But we are seeing it already today. In Israel, there are so-called rabbis who have aligned themselves with xtian groups and attaching their avoda zorah to Judaism, r'l. Please read Jewish Israel.com. Very distressing. Other than that blog, hard to find this info elsewhere; they're keeping it out of the limelight.
